2012 Annual Letter from the Board

Dear Fellow Patriots,

The Unit Scholarship Fund (USF) sincerely appreciates your interest in supporting our mission and goals. The USF is a patriotic tribute to the spirit of those Special Operations Soldiers who defend our Nation daily and especially to those that have paid the ultimate price, for the freedoms that we all enjoy. To them, the USF gives heartfelt gratitude.

Created in 1993, The Unit Scholarship Fund honors those Special Operations Soldiers who selflessly serve our great Nation, by providing Undergraduate and Graduate School Scholarships to their Dependents. Today the USF awards merit-based scholarships to the Children and/or Spouses of Current, and Veteran Unit Members. We encourage and recognize Family Members who emulate the dedication, integrity and selflessness of their Military Sponsors. The fund sends a strong, real-time message to our Unit Members and their Families, that their exemplary service to our great Nation is recognized and truly appreciated.

The USF is an official IRS 501 (c) (3) non-profit, tax-exempt operating foundation chartered to support the educational goals of great Americans. Our foundation receives contributions from both the United Way and the Combined Federal Campaign. With the support of these organizations, our corporate sponsors, and through the labors of hundreds of volunteers, working together as a team, we have given the USF the capacity thus far to grant 967 scholarships for more than $1,827,800. These scholarships have helped fulfill the educational dreams and goals of America’s Future Leaders.

Every year, we strive to raise funds through various functions and sponsor donations in order to help the educational needs of our future generation. Not all sponsors just send cash donations; we have some sponsors that will donate their time, business, and prizes to our fundraisers (i.e. annual golf tournaments, raffles, etc.).

On behalf of the Unit Scholarship Fund and its Board of Directors, we truly appreciate your time and efforts in the advancement of educational opportunities for the Families of the great Special Operations Soldiers that defend the freedom that we all enjoy and treasure.
